When The Installer Is Gone

Last updated

Your panels are usually still covered by the manufacturer. Call the maker and ask for certified installers near you.

EnergySage says equipment and production warranties come from the manufacturer, not the installer. The catch is that without a certified installer, some of those warranties could be treated as void, so find one soon (EnergySage on installer bankruptcy and warranties).

Check whether another company bought your installer. Service often continues under a new name. If you had a separate maintenance plan, contact that provider.

With a loan, you generally still owe it. With a lease or power purchase agreement, the company that owns the system stays responsible for its upkeep.

The installer's own workmanship coverage may be the gap (EnergySage on solar panel warranties). Manufacturers rarely cover installation labor, so read your contract for what the installer promised.
